"restaurant on airport" filter doesn't appear to work

Allan H 4 years ago updated by George T 3 years ago 2

Three airports in the corridor in the yellow segment of my flight were shown, KSLE, S12, KEUG and although I checked "restaurant on field" according to the airport information, there are no restaurants at any of those airports. At KEUG, a large airport served by airlines, the following is shown for "other services" but it's impossible to determine if any of them are restaurants! Or where they are located, on or off the field, unless it specifies a number of miles.

EZ 541-232-0231
Deluxe 541-434-1161
Budget 541-683-8294
AAA 541-337-3332
Olive Garden 6 mi 541-349-8929
Outback Steakhouse 8 mi 541-744-7063
Wings Bar & Grille 541-688-9433
VIP 541-484-0920
Airport City 541-484-4142

I checked the airport filters and specifically the Restaurants on Field filter and it appears to be working correctly. Keep in mind that the source of the data is the AOPA Airports Directory. If there is a restaurant on field indicated from either the airport manager or FBO manager, then it will show up. The data is only as accurate as what is reported from the airport management. In the case of KEUG, it does appear that there are restaurants located in the main passenger terminal building however, they likely won't show up in the AOPA Airports directory unless specifically added by the Airport/FBO as a service they provide to general aviation. It could be that the restaurants are on the other side of security but I am speculating.

If you (or anyone) is aware of restaurants at any airport that general aviation pilots and passengers have access to, they can be reported to airportdirectory@aopa.org. Our staff will verify directly with the airport and then update our online directory.

In planning a flight from KMIV to KMTV the filter worked correctly for "on field" restaurants at KMTV which is what I wanted.. But if you check either "Nearby (within 1 mile)" or both "on field" and "Nearby" KMTV was dropped. Should be a simple code fix to include "On Field" and "Nearby" restaurants in "Nearby" results since certainly "On Filed" restaurants are within 1 mile.
