Enhancements to the Nav Log

Anonymous 4 years ago updated by Eric.Rush (Project Lead) 1 year ago 15

I have a simple suggestion to make the Nav Log more user friendly:

1. When displaying and printing the NAV Log, there should be an option to automatically fill in the frequencies for the waypoints and destination airports contained on the log. While one could print and then fill-in this information by hand, it seems that the application ought to be able to do it automatically.
2. A bit harder, but still doable: On the NAV Log, there should be an option to allow pilots to add comments/notes prior to printing. Each flight is unique, and pilots have many varying needs/interests. The Nav Log is the one place where pre-flight "notes-to-self", can be made alongside critical route information. Often this might be cut-paste info such as pattern direction, pattern altitude, alternate frequencies, local landmarks, etc. But it might also be user specific info such as flight instructor advice, passenger and cargo data, WDC ADIZ procedures, etc.

A new version of the Flight Planner was released on July 18th that includes a Route Wind Optimizer and Assignable Altitude Per-Leg. In addition, this new version also displays Start of Climb, Level Off and Start of Descent points on the Chart and NavLog. Additional NavLog enhancements have also been made to display common communication frequencies for the departure and arrival airports, a HOBBS and TACH IN/OUT log and IFR Clarence fields when the type of flight is IFR. There is also a Notes field that a user can type in details they want to have printed on the NavLog.

had trouble in changing departure date in faa flight plan, had submission date but could not change departure date 1 day difference

Flight plans can only be filed for a maximum of 24 hours in the future. This is a requirement of the DUATS system. If your departure time is more than 24 hours in the future, the flight planner will not accept the time input.

I am looking forward to this update. Being able to add frequencies and comments to the Nav Log would be a big help.

Agreed, this is a great feature request.

I see this is planned. Any timeline on it?

We just had a meeting with our development team today about this. We should be starting work on this in the next several weeks and anticipate releasing it sometime later this summer. We are actually grouping the couple requests here with several other enhancements we already had on our internal list for the Nav Log so the task is a little bigger than what is requested here. That is why this will take until later in the summer.

Great new flight planner. Love the prepopulated Nav Log. Would like to request a "CRAFT" space at the top of the log to copy an IFR clearance. Thanks.

On the Nav Log, a true course section would be greatly appreciated as well as a spot that shows the magnetic variation

It would be helpful to be able to enter an alternate after the primary destination, including appropriate altitudes and airspeeds

What would be preferable is a button on the navlog page to produce in one sequence a Adobe file "Nav Book" with the nav log table and all the kneeboards of the airports along the route.

Now I do this by myself after sending multiple adobe files.

Remark : on the nav log page now we can print the logs table, send it by email for others app  but we can't produce and send a simple Adobe file of this table.

In my opinion, it would be very usefull to have this kind of NavBook when navigating.

Correction to my previous comment. It is on my Ipad that I'm not able to make a pdf file of the logs table. We see a button to do it on web version but not on the ipad version.

How does one add an informational comment for services at a specific airport?  I can see the subject has been discussed and supposedly in development. Has it been completed?
