Would like to see a table of various altitudes that shows wind direction, velocity and estimated flight time and fuel usage. This will help selecting the optimal altitude for a flight.
A new version of the Flight Planner was released on July 18th that includes a Route Wind Optimizer and Assignable Altitude Per-Leg. In addition, this new version also displays Start of Climb, Level Off and Start of Descent points on the Chart and NavLog. Additional NavLog enhancements have also been made to display common communication frequencies for the departure and arrival airports, a HOBBS and TACH IN/OUT log and IFR Clarence fields when the type of flight is IFR.
A better view with altitudes around mountains would be nice or a legend with colors for each altitude in 1000's of feet would be a nice selection on views.
I would like to be able to change altitude for different legs of flight in the planner that would not span the entire flight. Here in WY we have to hop mountains. Also if doing a round robin, different altitude for different legs is required. It sounded like on the webinar 5/4 what you were working the "problem" but didn't see it in the list of ideas,
Altitude per-leg is another feature that is on our development list. Thanks for adding this comment to the post as it helps us prioritize our development efforts! Not sure of a time frame for releasing it but I would say that it is on our "short" list.
Development has started for an integrated winds aloft optimizer. ETA will be provided as development gets further along.
Agreed, a winds aloft optimizer is a GREAT feature.
I agree, altitude per leg pretty much a necessity., and a better altitude optimizer would be very helpful.
